Policy InstrumentImport quota
DescriptionApproved a two-year extension to the duty-free import quota for rice originating in countries not party to a free trade agreement with Mexico, first established in March 2017. Accordingly, up to 150 000 tonnes of paddy, husked, milled or broken rice may be imported annually, from any origin and free of duties, until 31 December 2019. Import certificates under the quota will be issued for a maximum of 10 000 tonnes per solicitor, and will be valid for 60 days after their allocation, or until the close of the calendar during which they are issued, whichever comes first.
