DescriptionConverted area-based subsidies to payments per tonne delivered by farmers to local crushers, with a view to improving the latters supply with domestic raw material.
NotesFurther to the reforms announced earlier this year (see MPPU Feb.17), government officials informed that per-hectare oilseed subsidies will be converted to payments per tonne delivered by farmers to local crushers. Reportedly, the subsidy is aimed at improving the supply of local oilseed crushers with domestic raw materials. The payment applied to farmer deliveries will amount to KZT 4 000 per tonne (USD 12), which compares to a rate of KZT 25 000 (USD 74) proposed by the private sector.
