DescriptionProposed new labeling regulations aimed at stemming the rise in nutrition-related chronic diseases in the country.
NotesThe Canadian Government invited public comments on proposed front-of-package labeling regulations that would be aimed at addressing the increasing prevalence of nutrition-related chronic diseases in the country. Under the proposed rules, consumers would be provided with relevant information as to whether a food exceeds certain thresholds in any of the three nutrients of concern – saturated fat, sodium and sugar. The industry would have until December 2022 to comply with the new labelling regulations.
