NotesEgypt signed the Sixth International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives (see MPPU Feb.’17), thereby regaining full membership in the International Olive Council, IOC. According to media reports, under the agreement, Egypt will benefit from financial grants to support domestic olive production, including a new initiative to promote cultivation in the Western Desert. In recent years, the country’s partly export-oriented olive oil industry has expanded gradually.
