DescriptionAs part of its budgetary allocations, announced that it would destine SLL 294.1 billion (USD 32 million) to assist local production of rice and other basic foodstuffs, so as to reduce dependence on imports. Specific interventions would include the provision of improved seeds and fertilizers, development of irrigation infrastructure, agricultural research, the rehabilitation of inland valley swamps, and promotion of mechanization though the acquisition and enhanced maintenance of tractors.
