NotesRegarding the Norwegian Parliaments call to ban the importation of non-sustainable biofuel feedstock, government sources informed that the issue will be taken up in trade talks between the European Free Trade Association, to which Norway is a member, and Malaysia. Trade ministry officials underscored that lawmakers did not call for a blanket ban on palm oil, instead recommending that biofuel feedstock be sourced exclusively from sustainable bases a policy Malaysia claims to pursue systematically.
