DescriptionThe Pacific Community launched a regional initiative together with the European Union, aimed at improving the competitiveness of small coconut producers in the Pacific region.

NotesA regional initiative aimed at (i) improving the competitiveness of small producers in the Pacific coconut industry, (ii) enhancing regional policy integration, (iii) strengthening links in local value chains, and (iv) supporting capacity building has been launched by the Pacific Community (SPC) together with the European Union. Reportedly, the three-year, 3.5 million Euro (USD 3.8 million) project, will start with the implementation of pilot projects in Samoa and Vanuatu. Under the initiative, training and awareness programmes will be developed, along with a manual on risk management and mitigation tools for farmers, processors and other stakeholders.
