NotesCHINA GMO policy: In January, marking a departure from past policies, Chinas regulators confirmed that biosafety certificates for domestic cultivation of two locally developed GM events had been granted (see also MPPU Jan20). The authorizations concern a GM maize and a GM soybean variety and will be valid through December 2024. Reportedly, cultivation of both varieties is expected to begin in the forthcoming season.
