NotesEUROPEAN UNION – pesticide regulation: The European Commission decided not to renew the approval of thiacloprid – a pesticide belonging to the neonicotinoids group and used predominantly in rapeseed cultivation – due to identified insect and human health risks. The chemical’s approval is set to expire on 30 April 2020. The decision follows the prohibition of three other neonicotinoid-based insecticides in all outdoor-uses in April 2018.
