DescriptionFrom July 2020 to August 2020: Detained incoming vessels with COVID-19 affected crew members, preventing cargoes from being unloaded and requesting ship owners to either replace or quarantine concerned crews.
NotesCHINA – security measures (COVID-19 related, temporary measures): After port authorities found that crew members on several soybean cargoes arriving in China’s eastern seaports tested positive for COVID-19, the concerned vessels were detained, preventing cargoes from being unloaded. Ship owners were required to either replace the concerned crews or quarantine them for at least 14 days. The measures stoked fears among traders and crushers about potential, significant slowdowns in the overall clearing process at Chinese ports.
