NotesUNITED STATES OF AMERICA relief programme: On 17 August, the US Government approved a Federal Disaster Declaration following the impact of a derecho windstorm, which, according to USDA estimates, impacted 37.7 million acres (15.3 million hectares) of farmland across the Midwest, including a substantial part of Iowas maize and soybean crops, infrastructure and storage facilities. USDA assistance will be made available to impacted farmers through various farm programmes.
