NotesEUROPEAN UNION – market regulation (olive oil): In November, the European Commission approved voluntary self-regulation of the Spanish olive-oil market by the country’s main agricultural cooperative, Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias. The decision, which will be formally codified into the bloc’s Common Market Organization, will allow members of the cooperative to withdraw surplus olive oil from the domestic market in years when production exceeds local demand and exports.
