DescriptionModified its regulation concerning the gradual elimination of transfatty acids in food products. The amendment comprises i) a new definition of industrial transfatty acids; and ii) provisions that, from 1 January 2022, food products shall not contain more than 2 percent of industrial transfats by mass.
NotesINDIA – food standards – trans fats content: In February, the FSSAI revised its regulation regarding the elimination of trans-fatty acids in food products. The amendment comprises i) a new definition of industrial trans-fatty acids, and ii) provisions that, from 1 January 2022, food products shall not contain more than 2 percent of industrial trans-fats by mass. Until that date, the permissible limit will remain at 3 percent.
