DescriptionLaunched a project worth DOP 72 million (around USD 1.3 million) to provide technical assistance and financing to small pig producers affected by African Swine Fever (ASF). The plan promotes restocking of other species of animals to provide a livelihood for producers until the authorities certify that restocking pigs is safe. Many countries implemented precautionary measures after the detection of ASF in the Dominican Republic at the end of July 2021, including increased inspections by Colombia and the banning of pig meat imports by Mexico and Taiwan province of China.
