DescriptionBanned exports of fully broken rice and imposed a 20 percent export duty on exports of non-basmati and non-parboiled paddy, husked and semi/wholly milled rice. No restrictions were applied to exports of basmati and parboiled rice. The measures became effective on 9 September 2022. However, transitional arrangements were stipulated for broken shipments that, prior to the prohibition, were already at the loading stage, had filed shipping bills, vessels already berthed/arrived/anchored or where their consignment had already been handed to customs. Broken shipments in these categories were allowed to be exported between 9 and 15 September.
