DescriptionAnnounced that it would provide 813.5 million people covered by the National Food Security Act (NFSA) with rice, wheat and coarse grains free of cost for one year. The supplies would be provided in the form of 5 kg per person rations to beneficiaries that fall under the Priority Households category and in the form of 35 kg per household rations for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries. The scheme would be implemented from 1 January to 31 December 2023 at an estimated cost of INR 2 trillion (USD 24 billion).
