DescriptionAmended rules under which nine varieties of husked Basmati rice qualify for duty-free imports into the European Union, specifying, among other points, that applications for import licenses, which must be possessed in order to qualify for duty free imports, must be accompanied by proof of applicants having exported or released for free circulation into the European Union a minimum of 25 tonnes of Basmati rice during one of the previous 2 calendar years and by a product authenticity certificate issued by a competent body of the exporting country. The measure became effective on 28 December 2023.
