DescriptionLaunched the Arroz da Gente programme, as part of the 2024/25 Plano Safra da Agricultura Familiar. The scheme aims to support rice cultivation by 10 000 family farms located in northeastern, midwestern, northern and southeastern regions of Brazil through technical assistance, seed distribution, credit support, efforts to sustain purchases of machinery and improvements in storage infrastructure, as well as marketing assistance through the Food Purchase Programme (Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos) and the Option to Sell Contract (Contrato de Opção de Venda) programme. In addition, under the Plano Safra da Agricultura Familiar, credit at reduced interest rates of 2-3 percent would be availed for rice cultivation under the National Programme for Strengthening Family Farming (Programa Nacional de Fortalecimento da Agricultura Familiar).
