First quality evaluation of aboriginal millet in the South-link area in Taiwan

Taitung (Taiwan), 12/08/2023

The Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension station (TTDARES) and the Jinfeng township office jointly conducted the first quality evaluation of the aboriginal millet in the South-link area, which was successfully completed on August 12 2023.

The evaluation is divided into three stages:

  1. The first stage is to detect pesticide residues, moisture content and bulk density of unhulled millet.
  2. The second stage is to check the impurities, imperfect grains and uniformity of the hulled millet.
  3. The third stage is the sensory evaluation, in which four judges evaluate the colour, texture, taste and smell of the cooked pure millet rice.

The scores of the three stages were summed up for evaluation. This time the competition was fierce and the results were hard to distinguish. In the end, Hu Ming-Zhi won first place in this millet quality evaluation.
