FAO Mongolia provided urgent assistance to extinguish forest fire in Binder and Batshireet soums of Kehntii province. The large fire spreading south from the Russian taiga transmitted to border territory in afternoon 21 April 2019, say local officials. More than 150 people representative from local communities, staff from the national emergency management agency, border unit, and other organizations worked to extinguish the fire. Due to heavy wind and remoteness of the location the fire spread out huge territory, damaging northern forest resource.          

FAO Mongolia, thorough its project on Sustainable forest management provided an emergency assistance, provided necessary equipment, primary safety stuff and fuel for fire control equipment worth 6.6 million tugrugs. A special working group headed by the Governor of Khentii aimag, Head of Emergency Commission worked on the site during 25-27 April and delivered emergency assistance to the people working to extinguish forest fire.
