E-Agriculture project to be implemented

FAO team led by Resident Representative Vinod Ajuha held a briefing meeting with H.E. Ulaan Chultem, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia. 

The sides held discussions on particular issues including the implementation of joint projects on technical assistance, development of policy documents under the cooperation program, intensifying implementation of Mongolia’s Sustainable Livestock Development Plan, co-organization of public hearing on the Law on Pastureland and the ‘Livestock identification and registration system upgrade project’.

The UNFAO will implement the ‘Digital Agriculture’ project in cooperation with the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry and the Communications and Information Technology Authority this year. Moreover, the UNFAO agreed to support the assessment of the animal genetic resources of Mongolia with the Ministry and learn opportunities to include the country report in the State of the World's Animal Genetic Resources Report. The sides also discussed triangular cooperation opportunity with the Ministry of Agriculture of Argentina in veterinary sector under the South-South technical cooperation.
