Second International Congress on Terraced LandscapesCusco, Peru
From: 14.05.2014 to: 22.05.2014
Peru will welcome researchers, farmers, activists, ‘terrace guardians’, decision-makers, technicians and rural development practitioners from various regions as well as international organization representatives for the Second International Congress on Terraced Landscapes. It seeks to reassess the importance of terraces/platforms in the world as a mechanism of adaptation to climate change contributing to rural life, food security, the environment and society in general. Peru has been chosen not only for its terraces (Andenes), but also for its efforts to rehabilitate agricultural terraces and introduce technologies according to regional specificities in recent decades. These efforts have been driven by the State, non-governmental development agencies and farmers themselves.
