UNFCCC COP 23 and Mountain Partnership side events

At the 23rd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP 23), on 6-17 November 2017, nations of the world will meet to advance the aims and ambitions of the Paris Agreement and achieve progress on its implementation guidelines. The conference will take place in Bonn, Germany, hosted by the secretariat of the UNFCCC, and presided over by Fiji. 

Mountain Partnership side events
The Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) is organizing two side events to take place during the UNFCCC COP 23:

Event title: Implementing the 2030 Agenda & Paris Agreement in mountains: building a Framework for Action
Organizers: MPS, Government of Kyrgyzstan and International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) 
Date and time: Tuesday, 14 November 2017 at 18.20-20.00
Venue: Meeting Room 2
Description: Mountain Partnership members will explore common challenges and solutions for addressing climate change impacts in mountains, supporting concrete actions, putting in place long-lasting processes and establishing policies that strengthen the resilience of mountain peoples and environments.

Event title: Mountains and Islands: building a coalition for vulnerable ecosystems
Organizers: MPS, Government of Jamaica and The Mountain Institute  
Date and time: Thursday, 16 November 2017 at 18.20-20.00
Venue: Meeting Room 2
Description: The Mountain Partnership and the Global Island Partnership are alliances that address the effects of climate change on vulnerable ecosystems. We will explore issues related to climate change adaptation and management, share experiences and lessons learned, and build synergies among the partnerships.
