X European Mountain Convention

The European Mountain Convention (EMC) is organized every two years in different parts of Europe. The specific mission and objectives of the event are to be released at a later date, however, the format will include: speeches, open discussions, panel-led discussions and field trips.

The tenth edition of the EMC is part of Mountains 2016, which is an international event about the sustainable development of mountains in Europe and the world, centred on science, knowledge and innovation. It is organized by the Centro de Investigação de Montanha, Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária, European Mountain Association – Euromontana, UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Mountain Development (University of the Highlands and Islands) and Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Viticultura Duriense.

Mountains 2016 aims to bring together scientists, farmers, decision-makers, NGOs and other mountain stakeholders from different regions of the world to present and discuss major sustainable mountain development issues and subjects related to the role of knowledge and innovation in promoting development in these special areas.
