International Conference on Research for Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions

The International Conference on Research for Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions (ICRSDMR) aims to share knowledge on agricultural, semi-natural and natural mountain systems, regarding research methods, tools, results, applications, trends and challenges. Another primary focus will be to link research in mountain areas in several regions of the world, with an emphasis on Europe and South America and Portuguese-speaking countries.

The format of the first ICRSDMR will include: speeches, open discussions, poster sessions, panel-led discussions and field trips. Key topics to be discussed at ICRSDMR:

• how mountains, providers of essential ecosystem services, can be recognized and valorized by the general public; and
• how research in mountain areas can contribute to sustainable development.
  
  

The Conference is part of Mountains 2016, an international gathering about the sustainable development of mountains in Europe and the world, centred on science, knowledge and innovation, and organized by Centro de Investigação de Montanha, Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária, European Mountain Association – Euromontana, UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Mountain Development (University of the Highlands and Islands) and Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Viticultura Duriense.

Call for symposia

The International Conference on Research for Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions invites proposals for symposia sessions (parallel sessions during the conference). These applications should be received by 15 January 2016 (new deadline).

The International Conference on Research for Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions is a scientific meeting aiming to share and discuss methods, tools, results, applications, trends and challenges in research in mountain systems. This first conference in the series will be organized under the theme “Ecosystem services and sustainable development”.
