Ecosystems and biodiversity: Italian research in the service of citizens

Italy’s National Research Council (CNR), in collaboration with Lifewatch, Long Term Ecological Research Network (LTER Italia) and other partners, is organizing a one-day conference at the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2015 in Milan, Italy.
The conference entitled “Ecosistemi e biodiversità: la ricerca italiana al servizio dei cittadini,” or “Ecosystems and biodiversity: Italian research in the service of citizens,” will showcase the work of research institutions and organizations associated with the LTER Italia network which undertakes long-term research studies on ecosystems.
LTER Italia is a network of scientific research institutions that study and monitor the status and trends of many important ecosystems in Italy, investigating the impact of climate change and pollution and evaluating the possible loss or alteration of their biodiversity. The network includes long-term research sites in forests, high elevation environments, lakes, coastal, marine and transitional water sites.
Lifewatch is an e-infrastructure, a virtual infrastructure that provide ICT tools and services for management and advanced elaboration of biodiversity data to researchers, public and private stakeholders working in the field of green and blue economy.
