Second SMTA Symposium: Building a Meta-Network on Sustainability in Mountain Tourism

Chamonix, France
From: 14.01.2016 to: 16.01.2016

The Sustainable Mountain Tourism Alliance (SMTA) will host the second SMTA Symposium on Building a Meta-Network on Sustainability in Mountain Tourism on 14-16 January 2016 in Chamonix, France.

The goals of this symposium are:

  • to build a meta-network of existing and new organizations active in the field of sustainable development in mountain regions connected with tourism,
  • to present the SMTA report on measuring, labeling, communicating and implementing sustainability in mountain tourism, including the proceedings of the first SMTA Symposium in January 2015 in Chur, Switzerland, and
  • to develop concrete next steps across the network of organizations with a focus on a common measuring and reporting protocol on sustainability: joint research, communication and funding.

The second SMTA Symposium can be followed virtually via online streaming http://www.sustainablemountaintourism.org/ and on Twitter (@SustMTA) on 15 January to allow for wider inclusion of those who cannot travel to Chamonix. Virtual participation is encouraged, while physical participation is limited to 30 seats on a first come-first serve basis. To register, send an email to [email protected] before 20 December 2015.
