World Mountain Forum 2016: Mountains for our Future

The third World Mountain Forum (WMF 2016) will be held from 18-20 October 2016 in Mbale, Uganda. The Forum will present an opportunity for mountain stakeholders to share lessons and experiences on past activities in sustainable mountain development and to discuss challenges and opportunities for SMD in the future. The WMF 2016 outcomes are expected to inform the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and guide interventions in mountain areas at local, national and international levels.

Under the theme “Mountains for our Future”, the WMF 2016 will cover the following broad topics: mountains and climate change, mountain communities and livelihoods, mountain ecosystem services and sustainable mountain agriculture.

Deadline for submission of abstracts for presentations and posters:   31 March 2016
Announcement of selected presentations and posters:                           1 May 2016
Registration deadline:                                                                                     30 June 2016
Deadline for final versions of presentations and posters:                        31 July 2016

The 2016 WMF is jointly organized by the Albertine Rift Conservation Society and the Government of Uganda with financial support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). It is also technically supported by Sustainable Mountain Development for Global Change (SMD4GC) partners all over the world.
