EUSALP General Assembly I

The first General Assembly of the European Union Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) under the Bavarian presidency will convene in Rottach-Egern, Germany on 13 February 2017. The General Assembly is constituted by the Ministers for European Affairs of the participating States and regions as well as the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Creţu.

The aim of the General Assembly is to set the political priorities for the activities of the Action Groups over the coming years. At the same time, the General Assembly shall address open questions on the structure of the cooperation (governance).

The concrete implementation of the political priorities adopted by the General Assembly will begin a day later, in the Action Group Forum in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on 14-15 February 2017.

EUSALP is a macro-regional strategy intended to address common challenges and contribute to the achievement of economic, social and territorial cohesion. It is expected to improve cross-border cooperation in the Alpine States and help identify common goals and implement them more effectively. EUSALP concerns seven countries, of which are five EU Member States (Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Slovenia), two non-EU countries (Liechtenstein and Switzerland) and 48 regions.
