iAlp: Interactive Alpine Museums

Turin, Italy
From: 23.02.2017 to: 23.02.2017

The “iAlp: Interactive Alpine Museums” project, initiated within the framework of the Mountain Partnership, aims to streamline access to and distribution of historical information across borders through innovative museum activities and the use of technologies, including the creation of an App that will make the cultural heritage of the Museo Nazionale della Montagna of Turin, Italy and the Musée Alpin Chamonix of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France accessible to international audiences.

The Italian Alpine Club of Turin (CAI-Torini), in partnership with the Communauté de Communes de la Vallée de Chamonix (Community of Communes of the Valley of Chamonix), was granted funding for the iAlp project as part of the territorial cooperation programme ALCOTRA Italy-France 2014-2020. The project, worth €2.55 million, is a multi-year programme with communication operations and cultural development aimed at creating a single digital database with the assets of the two museums, united by the mountain theme.

The project “iAlp” will be presented in a press conference in the Coat of Arms Hall of the Museo Nazionale della Montagna at 11.30 on 23 February 2017.
