The second meeting of the World Network of Mountain Biosphere Reserves (WNMBR) will be held in Andorra's Ordino Biosphere Reserve from 24 to 27 September 2024. This meeting serves as an important opportunity to strengthen the Network, assess the work carried out over the past year, and collaboratively design new strategies for the future.
Key objectives include exploring the current state of the Network, focusing on strategies to expand membership and reviewing operational structures to enhance dynamism and participation. The meeting will also showcase collaborative initiatives currently underway, whether led by the Network or by individual Mountain Biosphere Reserves (MBRs), while examining opportunities for new collaborative actions.
Another significant aim is to reflect on the role of the WNMBR in the upcoming World Conference of the Man and the Biosphere (MaB) Programme in China in 2025. A roadmap will be co-created for the Network’s activities for the 2024–2025 period, ensuring a clear strategic direction. The meeting will further provide a platform for the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and best practices among WNMBR members, fostering collaboration and shared learning.
