Towards the Creation of a Subregional Mechanism for the Andes

Representatives of the Andean governments will meet to further elaborate a regional mechanism for the sustainable development of the Andean mountains. This meeting is organized by the Argentinean Mountain Committee and the Mountain Partnership Secretariat; and it is linked to the Andean Initiative of the Mountain Partnership. It will build on the results of a project funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN that ended in December 2013 and promoted the creation or strengthening of national mountain committees in the Andean countries and the set up or a regional structure to address transboundary issues.
