Mountain Week at Expo 2015

Milan, Italy
From: 04.06.2015 to: 11.06.2015

A week-long celebration of mountains will take place during this year’s Universal Exposition, or Expo 2015. The initiative intends to promote sustainable mountain development and the products yielded in mountainous areas. This week will see the various mountain regions highlighted: the Carpathians, the Himalayas, Caucasus, the Pyrenees, the Andes and many others.

Mountain week is being organized by the governments of mountainous countries, the secretariats of the Alpine Convention and Carpathian Convention and other organizations that belong to the Mountain Partnership.

Is it possible to guarantee water and food for the entire world population? Is it possible to increase food security? These questions and more will be looked at when the world fair, whose theme is ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,’ opens up a six-month discussion on nutrition and food, and how our actions today will impact the next generations.

From 1 May to 31 October, more than 20 million visitors are expected. Through shows, conferences and meetings, participants will be able to explore the theme of nutrition and the resources of the planet by sampling foods and seeing traditions from around the world. Participation is open to everyone.
