Synthesis Workshop on Catalysts for Treeline Expansion under Global Change

Perth, Scotland
From: 09.10.2015 to: 12.10.2015

The goal of this workshop is to collate common datasets (Global Treeline Range Expansion Experiment G-TREE) and integrate current findings with the established scientific literature in order to address the question of disturbance as a catalyst of global change impacts in mountain systems. The workshop will compile, analyze, and interpret results from the initial years of the G-TREE network and use current results and existing literature to assess whether disturbances in mountain ecosystems cause changes in the rate or direction of alpine ecosystem responses to global change.

The workshop is aimed to develop two collaborative papers:The first paper will be a synthesis of the initial results of the G-TREE experiment, which is the largest coordinated treeline range expansion experiment to date. The second paper will be a critical review of the current state of knowledge regarding the role of disturbances in shaping alpine ecosystem responses to global change.
