March for the Earth

Earth Day Italia Onlus will host the March for the Earth on 8 November in recognition of Pope Francis’ recent appeal for integral ecology to raise awareness about climate change and social injustice. Participants will gather at the Colosseum at 9:00 and begin walking the route along Via dei Fori Imperiali between 9:30 - 10:00. The march will conclude in Piazza SS Apostoli where there will be exhibition stands, food stands, workshops and shows.

The Mountain Partnership petition calling for action on climate change in mountains will be on site for participants to sign.

Pope Francis will welcome the March for the Earth initiative during the 12:00 mass at Saint Peter’s Basilica, which will also be broadcast on large screens in Piazza SS Apostoli. The event will close at 17:00.

Earth Day Italia Onlus is the main Italian partner of the Earth Day Network, which is based in Washington DC, US, and works with over 22 000 partners in 192 countries to broaden, diversify and mobilize the environmental movement. Present for seven years in Italy, Earth Day Italia Onlus strives to increase awareness on environmental issues.
