Resource conservation and management in mountain ecosystems (webinar)

Mountain ecosystems offer unique habitats to a rich diversity of flora and fauna spread along mountain altitudes with varying climatic and biophysical conditions. At the same time, millions of local communities directly and indirectly depend from mountains' natural resources and the important ecosystem services they provide. This webinar aims to raise awareness on current challenges related to resource conservation and management in mountain ecosystems and in other regions, which will help obtain a better understanding about the role of mountain ecosystems in this context.

Organized by the Grassroots Global Leadership programme (GLP) of The Grassroots Institute, a Mountain Partnership member organization, the webinar will be inaugurated by Hans Peter Nachtnebel, Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Water Management, Hydrology and Hydraulic Engineering, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria, and Chair of the GLP Steering Committee 2022-25. Dietrich Schmidt-Vogt, Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, University of Freiburg, Germany, and former director of the Mountain Societies Research Institute, University of Central Asia, Kyrgyz Republic will deliver the keynote speech. The webinar will be concluded by Abid Hussain, Senior Economist and Food Systems Specialist at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development.

All attendees will be offered a Certificate of Attendance.
