Climate Change and Environmental Threats: Protecting Lives and Livelihoods of Mountain PeopleRara, Nepal
From: 30.10.2014 to: 31.10.2014The Ministry of Science Technology and Environment (MOSTE) of Nepal and Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre (KIRDARC) are jointly organizing a conference to build a better understanding of the impacts of climate change and disasters in Nepal’s mountain regions, and explore solutions to address mountain climate change issues. The conference will also help to develop harmonious relations between people and the environment across mountain regions that will ultimately allow for more sustainable development. Moreover, it will provide an opportunity for stakeholders across the country to come together on a common platform to deliberate mountain issues and to arrive at a common solution to resolve the needs and concerns of the mountain regions. The conference will bring together some 80 participants – government officials, civil society actors, members of the scientific community and advocacy groups and local communities. KIRDARC Nepal has long been advocating to protect and promote the rights of mountain peoples through various conferences with wider engagement of various state and non-state actors. |
