All routes lead to Rome is the first event that promotes soft mobility and tourism for the sustainable development of Italy and its mountain areas.

Soft mobility refers to all the inhabitants on Earth who are called to contribute towards a sustainable future, without any distinction between developed, emerging and developing countries.

Italy is part of this vision too, and it finds its primary engine of development in culture and tourism, but still remains crushed by some of its cities and coasts sufferings because of unsustainable tourism. In addition, a large part of Italy’s territory, especially in the South and Central areas of the country, remains excluded from the list of popular travel destinations.

SIMTUR aims to propose a perspective connected to the need to defeat the approach Italy faces when it comes to the management of environmental, landscape, historical, artistic and archaeological heritage. SIMTUR is convinced that cultural Routes, Paths and Cycle Routes – often traced along ancient routes of history, culture and pilgrimage – can be a tool to increase storytelling and overall narrative, to investigate and promote integration models and innovative management of the elements of attraction, increasing notoriety, accessibility and use of the immense assets that are spread outside the consolidated tourist circuits. This event is planned within the context of the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development.
