Incontri d’alt(r)a quota

Raising the awareness among local communities and visitors is one of the aims of the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation, site manager of the Dolomites World Heritage Site. Incontri d'Alt(r)a Quota (High-Altitude Encounters of Another Kind), the summer festival in the mountain huts within the Site’s core area, pursues this aim with the direct and interactive involvement of locals and visitors of the Dolomites.

This sixth edition uses literature, geology and photography to raise awareness and encourage the conscious frequentation of the Dolomites, the eco-friendly use of resources and the active and participatory conservation of this heritage. 

The three UNESCO Dolomites Foundation events related to the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development are:

  • 16 July, Rifugio Falier (Marmolada), with writer Matteo Righetto
  • 27 August, Rifugio Agostini (Brenta Dolomites), with geologists from MUSE, Trento Museum of Science, and the Adamello Brenta Natural Park – UNESCO Geopark
  • 17-18 September, Rifugio Alpe di Tires (Sciliar-Catinaccio, Latemar), with photographer Moreno Geremetta
