Established in 1988, Altromercato is Italy's main fair-trade organization and one of the largest in Europe. With over 150 members, consisting of local fair trade organizations nationwide, Altromercato operates extensively across Italy. One of its notable initiatives is "Made in Dignity" (MiD), a specialized programme and department that imports raw materials from producing countries and distributes them to industrial partners in recipient countries. These industrial partners are also actively engaged in providing dedicated financial support to producer communities. Presently, MiD oversees programmes in Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador, Madagascar, Thailand, Togo and Uganda.
