Centre for Development and Environment (CDE)

The Centre for Development and Environment CDE) is the University of Bern’s centre of excellence for sustainable development. It conducts research and teaching on behalf of a more sustainable world. Its aim is to chart pathways to sustainable development and to initiate transformations in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. CDE hosts the Editorial Office of the peer-reviewed and open access journal Mountain Research and Development, the Coordination Office of the Mountain Research Initiative, and the UNESCO Chair on Natural and Cultural Heritage for Sustainable Mountain Development.
