The vision of the Institute for Sustainable Development Strategy Public Fund (ISDS), established in June 2011 and registered in March 2012, is one of Kyrgyz communities that are environmentally, socially, culturally and economically resilient and sustainable with strong local traditions and beliefs based on continuous inter-generational exchanges. The organization is committed to helping local communities to save traditional customs, values and practices by building up their capacity and skills through networking, sharing best practices and exchanging experience. It supports local people to re-build balanced relationships with nature and among themselves. Traditional knowledge and practices are recognized, valued and maintained by funding small initiatives of local organizations, as these rich sources of wisdom re-establish reciprocal relationships among cultures, livelihoods and ecology. ISDS believes that recognizing, valuing and working with local communities allows for learning, promoting traditions related to the natural world and rediscovering diverse approaches on protection and conservation. |
