The Agricultural Commodity Service Commercial Cooperative (ACSCC), or “Ak-Suu bailygy”, was established with the help of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Forestry Project. Through ACSCC, local women community members collect forest products - such as seabuckthorn, barberry, pine corn, red viburnum, rowan and rose petals – and use them to make jams. The result is healthy, unique and locally-sourced products. Most importantly, by monetizing forest resources, local women reap the financial benefits for their household budgets. |
