Shunya Yetana CBO-NGO (SYCBO-NGO)

Shunya Yetana CBO-NGO (SYCBO-NGO) has been registered and operating in and around Mt. Elgon Forest National Park since 1992. The organization is dedicated to identifying and addressing both human and natural factors affecting the conservation and well-being of the communities and ecosystems within Mt. Elgon Forest National Park.

SYCBO-NGO's mission involves supporting communities through capacity building, training and establishing linkages with other partners. The objective is to enable these communities to produce high-quality products and services on their farmlands, thereby reducing reliance on the park's protected resources.

Key focus areas include clean energy, agriculture, gender equality, soil and water conservation, biodiversity and traditional knowledge. Through these areas, SYCBO-NGO aims to promote sustainable practices that contribute to the protection of Mt. Elgon Forest National Park's ecosystem while improving the livelihoods of the surrounding communities.
