Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Chinese Academy of Sciences

Established in 1966, the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Chinese Acadamy of Sciences is located in Chengdu, China, and it is a unique state institute conducting mountain science research in China. Mainly focusing on mountain surface system, IMHE is engaged in research on mountain hazards, mountain ecology and environment and sustainable mountain development. In the past five decades, IMHE has completed more than 1 000 research projects, substantially contributed to the prevention and mitigation of mountain hazards, worked on the recovery of vulnerable eco-environment, and made strides toward sustainable development of mountain regions.
