New Mountain Research and Development issue09.09.2021The newest issue of Mountain Research and Development, Vol 41, No 2, is now available online and open access. In this open issue, a case study from China shows how bird photography tourism benefits both biodiversity and livelihoods. Research from the Indian Himalaya examines links between urbanization, hazards and vulnerability. A global analysis offers insights into challenges for sustainable governance of mountains, and a study on Canada’s mountain systems provides a nationally coherent basis for research, policy and work on social issues. Finally, another global assessment proposes principles and ways of developing a network of mountain observatories. The journal Mountain Research and Development publishes peer-reviewed articles presenting original research on mountain environments and people, sustainable mountain development, and mountain development experiences. Coverage ranges widely, from topics in the natural sciences to anthropological, economic and sociocultural issues. The target audiences are the scientific community and policy- and decision-makers.
