KYRGYZSTAN: National consultations “Kyrgyzstan – Post-Rio+20: the Future We Want”13.08.2012August 2012. The national consultations “Kyrgyzstan - Post-Rio+20: the Future We Want” took place at a conference-hall of Ak-Keme hotel, Bishkek. In his opening remark Joomart Otorbaev, Kyrgyz vice prime minister said, that “large scale preparatory works for RIO+20 have led Kyrgyzstan to the road of a Green economy’’ and told the audience about the Kyrgyz national delegation participation in the conference. Other invited speakers included MP members and MPCA hub staff, who shared their experiences on Mountain Pavilion activities at RIO+20 conference and their views on post RIO development for Kyrgyzstan, as a mountain country. Temir Sariev, the Minister of Economy and Antimonopoly Policy of Kyrgyz Republic, provided a brief description of the main points of the ‘Strategy 2020’, currently being developed by his ministry, and noted that it is crucial to start active consultations on the long-term sustainable development issues with all stakeholders. He also highlighted the necessity of institutional frameworks to promote the strategy of sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan and initiated the establishment of the National Council on sustainable development, under the lead of the President of Kyrgyz Republic. |
