19.06.2023

The Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) has published its 2022 Annual Report online today. The report outlines the MPS' key achievements throughout the year, including supporting the observance of the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development 2022, convening the sixth Global Meeting with Mountain Partnership members in Aspen, and celebrating mountain women for International Mountain Day.

Opening with a message from Rosalaura Romeo, the Interim Coordinator of the MPS, the publication continues with chapters dedicated to the MPS’ pillars of work, including advocacy, communication, knowledge management, brokering joint action, and leading capacity development initiatives. Activities are highlighted through the lenses of key thematic areas, such as climate change, restoring mountain ecosystems, livelihood improvement, and partnerships.

The 2022 Annual Report also showcases a selection of Mountain Partnership members' activities around the world to celebrate the many local, national, regional and international collaborations, institutional strengthening, thematic conferences and scientific reports that have taken place within the framework of the Mountain Agenda.

Looking toward the future, Rosalaura remarked in her opening message, "As we move ahead in 2023, I would like to see the Mountain Partnership embrace the many mountain-related global challenges with a renewed sense of purpose. The recently proclaimed Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions 2023–2027 can provide a framework for efforts in this direction. Above all, I believe it is the unwavering commitment of our diverse membership that will continue to make the difference for mountains and mountain peoples."
