Call for youth to participate in the Youth4Mountains Series

08.09.2021

Youth between the ages of 16 and 29 from around the world, living in mountain areas or passionate about sustainability, are invited to participate in the Youth4Mountains Series to contribute to a manifesto on the need for specific education to promote the sustainable development of mountain territories worldwide.

The University of Milan through UNIMONT, together with the Mountain Partnership Secretariat, Euromontana, Alparc and EUSALP Youth Council, are launching a consultation series to draft a manifesto centred around young people, their ideas and opinions for the promotion of a sustainable and lively future in mountain areas globally. The final manifesto will be presented at the event “Connecting youth and mountains, creating a lively future” on 8 October 2021 in the Italian Pavilion at Expo Dubai (read more).

The series will be composed of two online working sessions on 15 and 22 September at 11.00–12.30 CEST. The first session will comprise a training opportunity followed by an open discussion on climate change; biodiversity; interconnection, virtual and physical mobility; and entrepreneurship and innovation. During the second session, working tables will collect the inputs of the youth participants on the four topics previously explored. The working language will be English.

The final session of the series on the morning of 8 October will lead to the drafting of the “Mountain Education and Innovation Manifesto”. One of the participants from the consultations will be selected to give a motivational speech later that day at the Expo Dubai event where the manifesto will be presented before high-level speakers.

Youth interested in participating in the Youth4Mountains Series may register completing the questionnaire. For more information, please contact [email protected].
