Climate and insect pests in Eastern Africa

19.12.2012

A four-year research and development project on the impacts of climate change on insect pests in eastern African mountains is underway in Kenya, coordinated by the International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology.

The Climate Change Impacts on Ecosystem Services and Food Security in Eastern Africa (CHIESA) Project 2011–2015 targets the Afromontane ecosystems for studying eco-physiological and reproductive responses of the key insect pests associated with maize, coffee, avocado and crucifer.

The results of the study will be used to develop integrated pest management for local farmers. For more information visit http://chiesa.icipe.org.
